José Antonio Godoy leads a group of investigators at the Biological Station of Doñana. This research is pioneer in the application of genomics in an endangered species. The objective of this investigation is the Iberian lynx genome sequencing. This animal is the most threatened cat species in the world.

From the Genomics and Oncology Research Centre at the «Health Science and Technology Park» in Granada he fights against cancer through genetic investigation.  This defender of the public sphere, that considers himself as a product of the public system, combines his investigations with his work as a professor at the University of Granada.
